How do I legalize a degree certificate or diploma issued in France?

The legalisation process in France consists of 4 steps:

  1. The original document is presented to the Town Hall which will issue a certified copy
  2. The certified copy is  translated by an official translator whose signature will be authenticated by the Town Hall with jurisdiction over his/her place of residence
  3. The certified translation is subsequently  presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that it can be legalized
  4. The legalized document is then finally authenticated by the Embassy of the relevant country.

The entire process takes 7 to 14 working days.

The disbursements are in the region of 100 Euros.

Our fees are £250 plus VAT and disbursements per document.

How do I legalise foreign issued marriage or birth certificates to obtain a visa for France?

Marriage and birth certificates that have been issued overseas will often need to be legalised by the ministry of foreign affairs in that country or alternatively, by the respective UK based Embassy of the country that issued the certificate.

Certificates that are not written in English/French MUST to be translated and legalised if they are to be accepted by the French Consulates in the UK (London, Edinburgh).

The process for getting documents legalised by UK based Embassies varies from Embassy to Embassy, as does the cost and time frame.

Our fees to get documents legalised in the UK range from £70 - £200 (depending on the Embassy) plus VAT and disbursements per document.
